Intercessory Prayer Ministry International (IPMI) is a 501 (c ) (3) Exempt organization that was founded by Newton Gabbidon in Brooklyn, New York, on December 14, 1996. The organization began from a small group of Christians, from the Caribbean Diaspora in the Greater New York area, that met in the home of Newton and Norma Gabbidon in Brooklyn on 4th Saturdays (5:00 PM – 8:30 PM) to pray primarily for revival in the United States, Jamaica and other nations of the world. This prayer meeting commenced in June of 1995. Prior to immigrating with his family to New York City from the Island of Jamaica in 1992, Newton, who had been driven by a passionate desire to pray for revival in his homeland, had pioneered a national movement of prayer for revival on the island among Christians of the various denominations, in the mid-1980s. This movement led to the formation of the organization, The National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica (NIPNOJ), in 1989. It was this this type of passionate desire to see revival come to the nations that led to the establishment of the 4th Saturday prayer meeting in the Gabbidon’s home and which also helped to inspire the vision of IPMI.
